Beyond offering many of the expected museum experiences, The Lipsey is also an ambitious effort to recognize, preserve and remember Buffalo’s critically important architecture. At one point in American history, Buffalo was a hub for commerce in the North East. The Erie Canal changed all that, but not before some of the most important examples of American architecture were created. But sadly, many of its iconic buildings have been lost, but with the help of the Lipsey family, the new Architecture Center aims at helping highlight Buffalo’s important past, while advocating for the preservation of its remaining important buildings throughout the city.
The LACOB brand is an ambitious effort to respect the creative efforts of the past while helping focus on the here and now. What Buffalo was can not be separated from what Buffalo is today and the brand is meant to be optimistic, and adaptable. The icon form grows and changes with the brand’s application; A reference to the building blocks that make up each building and the creativity that lets it become anything anyone can imagine. The blue, though vibrant is a nod to the industrial prints and schematic drawings found throughout the industry and helps inject life into the brand and ensure the physical space doesn’t lack energy.
